Kentucky's Rich Brooks' seat is hotter than any other coach in the SEC and he knows it.

After three pitiful seasons with a combined 9-25 record, the Wildcats likely have to show marked improvement this year for him to remain in Lexington. The good news for Brooks is the team is on more solid footing now than in any time he's been at Kentucky.

"We have to win more games obviously," he said. "But the good news is we're in better position than at any time since I've been there to do that. We have about 82 to 83 scholarship players. I started with 68 my first year. We've been building it up ever since."

The team is still young, but returns 16 starters from last year's injury-prone roster, including nine on offense. That unit has the chance to improve on last year's 21.7 points per game thanks to an upgraded offensive line and the running of multitalented Rafael Little.

Thanks for the link, Rick.

The writer painted our schedule a bit easier than it is, though, as he shared the names of only our three weakest opponents. Truth be told, UK's schedule has been rated the fourth toughest in the nation by ESPN Insider. We play a total of SIX teams in the top thirty in the nation, including four in the top fourteen in the nation. That means we can NOT slip up against any of the other six opponents unless we beat a highly ranked team.

Now, of course, MAY IT HAPPEN! May we go BOWLING at the end of the season!

Good read

It's funny how most of the media states the easy games Kentucky "gets" to play. What they don't state is that actually Texas State was a very good team last year and what poodoo stated about how tough the rest of the schedule is this season. Kentucky has a very stout schedule. They flat out must beat all non-conference opponents that walk on the field at Commonwealth. Then they have to get it done on the road as well. I'm not going to be a nieve fan and say that UK should be able to take out the powers of Goergia, Florida and LSU (probably even Tennesee along with South Carolina and even Louisville), hwoever, I think they stand a chance at shocking at least one of those teams and pulling the upset. Vandy, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are must wins for us as well as the home non-conference bouts. There seems to be plenty of teams we are playing that are going to be bowling this post holiday season, I just hope those teams find out the hard way that we will be too.

Eric, I, likewise, think that we stand a chance of pulling off at least one huge upset this season. Too, how happy that would make me! :)
