:thumbup Our part of the state is well represented with five area teams in the top 5 of their respective classes, including the newly consolidated Mercer team. Go Titans!

I saw in the HL, where the refered to the Mercer team as Mercer Univ.. Dressing 90+ players at the 2A level is hard to believe. I'm sure they will go up to 3A soon.

Hopefully that new system doesn't go in effect, it will just water down the levels and make winning a title meaningless.

Interesting to see Danville ranked #10 over-all, but only #2 in 1A, while Newport Catholic is #1 in 1A and #24 over-all. (Just one guy's poll, though). Both are fine football programs, but the Lexington media has always been very high on Danville football.

Actually the title has been pretty meaningless for years with both Public and Private schools combined in the format.
At the end of the year I look to see what public school made it the farthest in the playoffs. That is my state champion.

I don't want to see a public/private split either, why not give a Henry Clay or Dunbar a shot at a Trinity or St X. I went to a public school, Henry Clay, and I would feel cheated not being able to play them. My brother played football and basketball at Lex Catholic, and who would they pay Covington Catholic and Lexington Christian every year for a championship ? I plan on sending my son's to Bethlehem, why not give them a chance to play Danville or Beechwood ?
