LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Jose Canseco's knuckleball was uncontrollable -- and it made his debut as a starting pitcher pretty ugly.

Long Beach Armada pitcher Jose Canseco warms up before Wednesday's game against the Reno Silver Sox.
The former American League MVP hit four batters and walked five others in 4 1/3 innings for the Long Beach Armada on Wednesday night. He also gave up a home run on a "flat knuckleball" and recorded his first career strikeout during an 8-2 loss to the Reno Silver Fox.

If you had told me in 1987, when I was trying to get every single Topps Jose Canseco All-Star rookie cards in the county, that his career would one day come to this...I probably wouldn't have said much, because I was 10.

But years later I would've recalled that conversation, and no way would I have believed you. What a crazy career this man has had. :?

My favorite: the home run off the top of his head...classic!

...and I had two of the McGwire US Olympic team cards and look at the turn his career took, most likely won't even be voted into the hall of fame because of the controversy.
