All,
For the last week or so admins and mods have been discussing a policy for graphical signatures. As you all may have noticed, there really wasn't a signature policy in place until now. We thought originally that we would play it by ear but we have decided that there needs to be some guidelines in place.
No signature file should exceed 500x100. That's 500 pixels in width and 100 pixels in height. Everybody will have until November 16th, to make sure their signature file meets this new policy before we will start checking for this.
If anybody needs any help reducing their signature file, please leave a message for one of thegraphic cats in the graphic forum. If you have any questions regarding this policy, please talk to an admin or mod.
Thank you for your time.

TRex,
How can you tell what your sig size is?
Or, to make things simpler for me, you could just say mine is either OK, or too big.
Thanks.

Thanks.Yours is 460 x 50. You can right click your mouse and then hit properties to see what size it is.

Are theyallowed to be 100 pixels in width and 400 pixels in height? Otherwise, some of the tall ones won't work anymore because of the way they are laid out? Parts of the graphic will be way too small to make out.

No, they must be no bigger than 400 pixels in width and 100 pixels in height.

Wouldn't 200 by 200 use less bandwidth than 400 by 100? Or is bandwidth the issue here?

Bandwidth wasn't the issue here.

Ok.....The required size will make them not quite so overwhelmingwhere they maytake away from a thread. I have seen a couple of underlying tones in displeasure of the large sigs. Not a bad compromise.WOW....we have alot of work to do. Is there anybody else here that can do animations? This may require all hands on deck. LOL.

One more question...
Since my sig is essentially a link and I can't scale it down, will I have to remove it? I understand wanting to keep the graphic sigs fair unobtrusive. To be honest, some of the bigger ones bug me too.
But is 460 x 50 way too obtrusive to keep?

i hate being the bad guy, (really i do..) but if he gets to keep it above 400x100 why wouldnt everyone else? personally i dont care, i know its a specific sig thats in question, and i have absolutely NO AUTHORITY, so dont take my word to mean anything at all...but if his slides, whos to say alot of the others will not beg to slide also?

i understand its your opinion, but please dont turn them off the board completely MODS!!!!! it makes it easier for me to find the updates in the threads i watch, i scroll to my last post (easily found by my sig) then read whats said afterwards. i do that b/c i cant stand the email updates so i turn them off. nothing worse than expecting email then open it to find out its just an update on a thread i lost interest in 2 months ago....lol

So, this was not because of BGUKGrads sig, it was already on the table.

I dont think they will be turned off, but couldnt you just as easily find your posts by your avatar? It looks to be as distinctive as your sig.
