These off-seasons can be dangerous. I'm really "putting myself out there" with this one, but who cares, right?
I like "Days of Our Lives". There. I said it. Laugh all you want...I can't hear you.
It started when I had first moved back to Kentucky. My wife had to stay behind (in Alabama) to finish up school. We had about seven months apart. I started to watch DOOL (see, I even know the cute little acronym that fans use online...) because she was watching it too...strange, I know, but it was like...when we were both watching it, we were 'together' then. (don't worry, WCN, we did the same thing with UK basketball games too...)
This was during the "Salem stalker" storyline...I told myself that I'd stop watching when that story was resolved. You know what, those genius writers have a scheme that counters that viewer's attitude. They keep on and keep on introducing new stories...even before the current biggie is resolved.
So here I am, almost three years later, still being held hostage for that one hour of the day that deals with the goings-on in Salem. Bo and Hope WILL get back together; Shawn and Belle belong together; Chelsea is worthless; Jack needs to either go ahead and die or get better, this has been going on long enough...
Sorry if I let any of you down...
(added upon edit: Farah Fath, the actress that portrays Mimi, is from Lexington, KY and is a huge UK fan. :thumbup:D)
(and it is sad that I know that. :thumbup:D)

I am a DOOL fan too. I was very upset when the soap at night station starting running their daily episodes at 11 p.m. I go way, way back w. Days. It has gotten a little rediculous. But it is a soap. As for Mimi...I had the pleasure of being at Rupp last year when she formed the "Y" at half time. Poor Mimi. She's not only getting her heart broken, but has the woman for a mother ;) Did you know about this link?

:thumbup Yep, I go to that site regularly.
To be honest with you, I'm having a hard time feeling sorry for Mimi right now. She's had chance after chance to 'do the right thing', and what has she done? She's continued to lie and scheme to keep Shawn. With Chelsea knowing what she knows now, the proverbial s&!# is about to hit the fan, I believe.
Of course, I blame the writers. They're making it hard to really 'like' many of the characters right now.

Holy moly.
Right now, as I type this, my wife has Days ON THE TIVO!
And yes, I admit it -- I'll watch. Sometimes. With one eye.
And my wife started watching it when we lived in Danville, during the...Salem Stalker plot.
Weird.
(P.S. I think Mimi's going to go villain on everybody. You can see the rage festering.)

I am not laughing...............big Days fan here.............I have been watching the show since I was 12.....I remember storylines from way back
The one going one now that blows me away is....Hope pregnant with Patrick's baby...come on she is in her 40's and he is her son Shawn's age........Hope had Shawn when she was around 20 and he is what 23 or 23..........
Only on a Soap

It wouldn't be easy to write for a soap.
In fact, it would take a great deal of creativity to keep these ridiculous storylines going.
The thriller novelist Michael Slade is a writer for the soap Passions. I used to love his books in high school, especially his tour de force Headhunter. (Speaking of guilty pleasures: that book comes highly recommended.)
The poet Wanda Coleman was a writer for Days before she started writing poetry. Coleman is regarded as one of the masters of experimental poetry, and one of the greatest black poets to have worked in the last half-century.

I think somebody (the gloved-hand one, perhaps?) played with the results of Hope's tests...that HAS to be the case. She can't be having Patrick's baby, can she? Can she???
Or...
She is having Patrick's baby, and somehow Patrick is going to find out that Bo is innocent of stealing the evidence in Chelsea's case...and he'll be honest about it. Imagine that... a character on this show being honest!
I don't know. I'm hoping for the first scenario.

You've got that right. I try to predict where the stories are going; I'd be embarrassed to put my track record up here, though. Not too successful...
You mention Passions...do you watch it as well? When we dvr dool (that's a lot of letters...), we always catch the first segment of Passions. Talk about ridiculous storylines.... There is always something crazy going on with that one...
Don't get me started on guilty pleasure books...any 'board cred' I have would instantly be taken away...:D

I remember reading somewhere (may've been on the link that CATHYnKY posted) that it is not important who the gloved-one is, but rather, who that person is working for...
As far as Stefano is concerned, the actor that played him (Joseph Mascola) has left The Bold and the Beautiful, which has led to speculation that he may be gearing up for a return to DOOL...who knows?
I didn't watch it much back when he was on the show, but I love me some good villian. :thumbup

Buddah! I loved me some Dark Shadows circa 1990. (Sci-Fi Channel reruns.)
Speaking of guilty pleasures. Speaking of the Sci-Fi Channel.
Early Sci-Fi Channel was some addictive stuff. The Prisoner. Dark Shadows. The original Twilight Zone. The new Outer Limits. That show with the weird doctor guy who talked about unexplained phenomena. Then, in the mid-90s, Mystery Science Theater 3000 came on. I used to stay up late on Sunday nights to watch a show called "Sci-Fi Buzz" that was just a rundown of the hot trends in science fiction.
Good times, good times...

that's true, i mean a serialized story that truly has no ending point is unlike eposidic television which has a set order every season... i would say that soap opera writers have one of the hardest jobs in television. Ironically, they don't have bigger staff than other programs. that suprised me.

Is anybody watching that new show on Sci-Fi, Eureka? I've watched all but the last two episodes (have them saved on dvr, though) and so far I'd say its off to a good start.
I mean, come on, a town full of geniuses/rocket scientists/engineers, with a government-appointed regular-Joe as the Sheriff? This is a premise that just screams, "WATCH ME!!!! EVERY TUESDAY AT 9 EASTERN/8 CENTRAL!"

On the link that CATHYnKY posted earlier, there is reference to a new head writer. Hogan Sheffer will be replacing James Reilly, which will be a good thing...
EXHIBIT 1 (on why it will be a good thing): It is the night before Austin and Sami's wedding. Sami does not want to stay with Austin, because as we all know, it is bad luck for the bride and groom to see each other before the wedding.
So what to do? Of course! Sami will stay with E.J.! (who, JUST LIKE in real life, proposed this solution by saying, "You can sleep with me!") Now, that is just a brilliant idea! Why wouldn't Sami want to spend the night before her wedding with another guy, a hunk at that? I mean, she's had such good luck in the past!
Oh, and the option of having Austin stay over there with E.J., and Sami stay in their own apartment? Nahhhh, wouldn't be prudent.
I'm sure I could think of more, but this is one that my wife and I were just talking about, so its fresh on my mind...
What do you think, Wildcat Larry?

she did the same thing right before she was supposed to marry Lucas....only that time she was drugged to make it look like she slept with Brandon..

I just can't figure out why the thought didn't cross their minds to have Austin stay with E.J. Seems like a simple solution. That's what I meant by it being an example of poor writing. They (the writers) should have come up with a plausible excuse why Austin couldn't stay with E.J., and why it HAD to be Sami stay over there. I mean, its just across the hall! I think it was a case of them (the writers) taking their audience for granted.
(along with the COUNTLESS times Mimi has said, "There's something I have to tell you...", right before a commercial, then coming back and, of course, not saying anything at all... or Philip saying, "I know what's going on here...", and of course, he's still clueless.)

That's one soap that I never watched...I haven't watched any in years since that pesky little employment thing gets in the way. (and when I started workingthere weren't VCR's and Tivo's that could be programmed...yes I'm telling my age a little there:shock:) But I used to like Y&R...always wanted to know what Victor Newman was up to next...lol.
I think they are great for some mindless entertainment...nothing to be ashamed of IMO.

Our own Homeycat was a bad boy reporter on GH back in the early 90's. He had some goods on Duke Lavery about a murder and was giving him a hard time. Remember Duke and Anna? They came after luke and Laura.
I went out to visit him and when he was walking me thru LAX from my plane, about a half dozen or more people recognized him.One guy screamed, " Hey, you leave that Duke Lavery alone!!! I still have a tape of a big fight scene he did on GH. No stuntman for that boy!!!
I went with him to the GH set for a couple of days and pretty much made a pest of myself. But it was pretty cool.
I remember watching ATWT with my Grandmother back in the 50's-60's. She would talk to the actors. LOL
My wife and her family are all CBS soaps. I like Victor Newman.
