Now residents of Pluto must endure "dwarf planet" status. Hopefully, they won't retaliate.

On a more serious note, my nephew and I have been arguing ( come on, not real arguing...he's 9!) for a few months now about how many planets we have. I say nine. He's convinced there are ten. Maybe he was right all along. Key word...was. Since Pluto is no longer a planet, if he was right, then I guess that makes me right now!

Of course, I'd be willing to bet that he already knows about this. He stays at least one step ahead of me all the time, that little rascal! :D

I'm a jump ahead of a fit over this and am just too overwrought to talk about it yet.. Pardon me whilst I get a tissue. *sniff sniff*

:rolleyes:Regardless of how we define it I'm sure it doesn't change a damn thing...Pluto itself is unaffected.

You don't think it will affect Pluto's already fragile image (being the furthest and smallest planet) to be downgraded from 'planet' to 'big icy rock'?? I know if I were Pluto, I'd be pretty chapped.

Before we start feeling too sorry for Pluto, take note of this...

Pluto's orbit is highly eccentric. At times it is closer to the Sun than Neptune (as it was from January 1979 thru February 11 1999). Pluto rotates in the opposite direction from most of the other planets.

So its not all doom and gloom for our "little buddy" out there...

What about me? I was held back in the 8th grade because I couldn't remember the 9th planet. I failed.

Now, do I get that year back? Or can I sue the school?

:cool:As they Jefferson Airplane wrote on the Volunteers album: compared to your scream, the human dream doesn't mean sh t to a tree...hopefully they don't have the Internet on Pluto so they will not know of their demise.

IMO, we should keep Pluto and boot Uranus, the name alone is an embarrassment.
