I know he makes many different apperences and because he is a native kentuckian, i just figured the odds maybe high that someone here may have met him one time. i remember in 96, Rick had him sit on UK's bench for a game.. i thought that was awesome.

In the early 80's I met him at Alexanders Restaurant in the Old Galleria (Now 4th St). I still have the Alexanders napkin that he autographed for me.

My wife's dad was a member of the same boxing club when they were kids. They gave him rides to the gym occasionally (reportedly). There are group photos with both of them and fight tickets with both of them on it.

I had the pleasure of being his security for Derby weekend in 1999.

He was my childhood idol so it was a pretty big deal to me.

He could speak still at that time but you had to really pay attention. His wife Lonnie was very nice too.

I had him from friday morning to saturday night and had many conversations.

The thing that struck me most was that his proudest moment was not being a gold medal winner, a heavyweight champ or lighting the torch at the Olympics. It was having a street in his hometown named after him. When I asked him why he said it was because it was his hometown and it was forever. His name would always be there for others to see. That was before the Ali Center was opened so I don't know if he considers that now a bigger deal or not
