For years my wife has put out humming bird feeders and it is a pleasure to watch these little fellows. I was amazed to find out the world's smallest bird actually migrates from Florida to Texas, across the Gulf of Mexico. The little bird reaches speeds up to 45 mph and their eggs are about 1/2 the size of a jelly bean. Nature is marvelous. :thumbup

Looks like you have the same humming bird as we get here in NC (Ruby-Throated) ....I also put out a feeder ....they sure are brave and will come right up to the window to feed ....a lot of fun to watch

I love Hummers! We have a wide variety here in Colorado and when I'm in the mountains they are in abundance. :D

My mom and dad are retired and they love feeding the birds. They have two humming bird feeders and last year I bought them some flower seeds that attract hummers. They love watching them too. I enjoy sitting on the porch and doing the same when I go to visit.
We saw a little more of nature than my mother wanted on our last visit. There are a couple of hawks that nest close by and one of them got one of the little starlings. He ate it and hung around trying to get another meal. My mother just hates the hawks.
My in-laws live in the county and have a bunch of hummingbird feeders. Have you ever noticed how aggressive they can get when competing for a spot at the feeder. Those beautiful little wonders can get downright mean.
Once my wife and I were hiking in SW Colorado and stumbled into an area of several nesting hummers. They started to swoop at us, we thought they were big bees until we realized they were humming birds.

Take your hummingbird feeders down around Labor Day every year. I've heard that they sometimes forget to migrate if a food source stays available.
