I was hopeful for a change in the right direction after a good draft and some solid free agent pick-ups, but the Titans look miserable this preseason. I know that it is exhibition football and final outcomes aren't that important, but both sides of the ball are looking like NFL doormats thus far.

Disappointments:

* can't stop the run - 3 straight rookie runners have looked all-pro

* 2 tds in 3 games

* poor tackling

* dropped passes, big plays ruined by flags, poor pass protection

* Pacman arrested

I have to agree even though I am holding out for a "miracle" turnaround when the season officially starts. As a season ticket holder, last year was a long one. The Titans and both Football and Basketball Cats were disappointing. Makes for a very long season.

Pacman is another story and I am fed up with his antics. His hold out during the signing period did not get me off to a good start with him. His charge for a night club problem, which was later dropped. The shooting involving some of his "entourage" which he was there as well. His car being involved in some drug problems. And now this? It just seems there is always something with him and he should be gone. He sure has not shown me much on the field either except that he can talk smack and earn lots of penalities. Can he becausinga chemistry problem? Just a thought. Something is sure going on internally.

Will be an interesting year for all my teams as all the coaches are on the hot seat if this season does not turn out better.

Just a funny thought. Since out of the5 jerseysmy hubby andIown, the only onethat still is an active player ( Kearse, McNair, George, Mason)is Calico and they are talking of releasing him. Maybe I should get a Pacman?:ggrin:

I'm worried about the Titans too. Sometimes you see teams go 4-0 in the preseason, then have miserable regular seasons, but you rarely see a team have a horrible preseason--especially where they're soundly beaten in the 1st team vs. 1st team matchups--and then turn things around when the games start to count.

But with that said, I'm reserving judgment until 4 games into the regular season. But looking at their first five games (Jets, @Chargers, @Dolphins, Cowboys, @Colts), it's going to be hard to be better than 1-4.

And FWIW, it looks like VY is going to get the start tomorrow at GB.

I saw this coming. I made it out to several days of camps both in Clarksville and Nashville. They looked bad almost everyday I was out there. I've been going to training camp ever since the Tennessee Oilers days down at TSU campus and I cant remember them ever looking so lost. Jeff Fischer looked very frustrated at times.

On the bright side, I did getsome jerseys, footballsand helmets signed by Vince Young and one jersey signed by Lendale White.:thumbupOkay, that's not a bright side for Titans fans, but I'm a Cowboy fan first and foremost.;)

Solid game against the Packers last week to finish the preseason. I feel a little better about the upcoming season.

I too feel better after the GB game. I feel bad for Volek but Collins may be the one to get things done.:rolleyes:

And as predicted,I now have 3 jerseys/shirts that are obsolete since they released Calico. ( McNair, George, Calico-- Hubby has Kearse and Mason) Since our buying something with their name on it seems to be a curse or the kiss of death, who should I get next?:ggrin:

I'm trying to find a Pac-Man. Seriously. I kind of like the headcase athletes, and it'll go nicely with my Ron Artest Pacers 1980s throwback.

I also swore I'd never get a credit card, but I signed up for one to get a free Titans jersey. I'll probably get a Bulluck or a Vince Young. I think both of thosewould besafe investments for you because now that they're supposedly out of "salary cap hell" it's less likely they'll be cutting every good player over age 30 for the next few years.

jaspcat, truer words have never been spoken. The Titans looked awful today! Last week was starting to look as bad until the 3rd and 4th quarter when we came back and tied the game. Really thought we had a chance to win that one.I was one of the ones that stayed andcheered as hard as I could. Lots around us left thinking it was over right after half. But today.... I don't think we were even in the game. Our only td was when I left the room to put clothes in the dryer!:XAnd it was too late. At least we scored one.

But on the bright side.... UK won and UT lost!!!!! I don't get to say thatphrase too many times!:ggrin:

Were it not for their TD drive after about 2/3 of the stadium had exited, Titans would've netted less than 100 yards of total offense for the game. No running game, Collins looks like he already retired, and the defense looked pourous and tired.

Coaching staff had 4 years to decide if Volek was the man to start at QB, then bring in a washed-up Collins 10 days before the 1st game? I've always thought Fischer was one of the best coaches in the league and was really excited about Norm Chow as a coordinator, but I don't see them turning this mess around - too many areas that need massive improvement and not one area of the team (except maybe the LBs) that looks good.

I don't think I've ever seen an NFL quarterback have a worse half of football than Kerry Collins did. 1-10 for 0 (ZERO!) yards!

I know Volek didn't look very good in the preseason, and I know a trade was imminent (and it happened today), but I was hoping they'd let him play the 2nd half if they're not ready to turn things over to Vince.

How long will it be before Fisher and Chow decide to make VY the starter? If Collins sucks as bad next week as he did against San Diego and the Titans fall to 0-3, I think they've got to think seriously about making the change.

Fisher keeps saying that Vince isn't ready to start, but will get the ball when he is. I agree with you, Doug, if the Titans are 0-3 and don't drastically improve this Sunday, then I think Young should start hereafter. Sure, he'd take a beating and probably make a bunch of poor decisions, but he's probably going to do that next year anyway.

Most importantly, it would give the loyal fans (and even the rest of the NFL) a reason to pay attention to whats happening in Nashville the rest of the year. 95% of Titans fans are already clamoring for Vince to start.

I just do not understand why Fisher keeps defending his decision to keep Collins as starter or in the game. He just keeps on and on that Vince is not ready. Well, how in the world can you get ready if you never get a chance to play? You can never learn to drive on the road if all you do is drive up and down the driveway. I have always thought Fisher was a good coach (as well as the cutest one in the NFL;)) but since his divorce last year, he just does not seem to be ontop of things. Also, rumours there is a conflict between Fisher and Reece.

Also, on the local news last night they did a poll and the majority of people who voted thought Vince should start. It was a big difference like 75-25. Can't remember the exact numbers. On Monday night news, Fisher said the team needs to put the game behind them and start planning for the next game. Haynesworth said right after that that no way should the team forget how pitiful they played. It needed to stay in the memory and not let it happen again.

Sounds kind of like a team turmoil thing. :(

I think Parcells is cuter.
