Patterson:
(1) I spoke this evening with Patrick Patterson’s father, and received a couple of tidbits of note. First, the visit to Midnight Madness is completely set up and his father said, “Patrick is really looking forward to that.” In addition, as previously has been reported, he has visits set up with Florida and Duke, and his father is unsure if any other officials will be taken. Patterson’s father acknowledged that things would be moving more quickly soon, with “Tubby and Coach K” coming to our house and Donovan coming five days after his official visit to Gainesville. Patrick has agreed to be our guest on KSR Radio this week and we look forward to hearing from him.
Patterson's father on Parson committment to Florida:
Patterson’s father acknowledged that he heard about Parsons, but “wasnt sure what impact that would have.” My own two cents here is that in my following of this recruitment, I have always believed, and still do, that going into the visits, Florida is a distinct third in this race.

PArsons and Patterson play different roles in the team if PPat commits. Parsons is a sharpshooter and needs to put on a lot if weight to play under the basket. Patterson and HIckson are traditional 4/5 players. Tyus is more of an athletic slasher like brewer and a shotblocker. PArsons can play the wing and even play the two and is listed as a SF. I dont understand how it affects Patterson in anyway.

It doesnt. If anything, IMO, it makes it worse. It puts more of a squeeze on a decision and Parsons has made it known that he will begin helping Billy D's push for HIckson and Patterson by constantly putting the word in their ear.

It certainly does affect things because there are only so many minutes worth of playing time, regardless of how these players styles are different. Florida is over-committed and still recruting. Some of those kids are going to be very disappointed. More transfers are inevitable... just like before. I wonder what Billy is telling these kids.
The only question is will Patterson see the obvious playing time problems at Florida or not?

DOnt you see that they play different positions?
This guys is a wing. How can that affect Patterson? It might affect James Anderson if we are still recruiting him. Bot not patterson/hickson.

Billy can easily sell that most his players will be moving on to the NBA early. No, its not a fact, but its an easy selling point.

It seems as if Billy has a tendency to tell them all they're gonna start. And, for some unknown reason, they believe him. So, I guess playing time must not be a factor at Florida. At least not if they start letting you put 12 guys on the floor at the same time.

All these kids want to be wings. That's why they're all out there practicing their three pointers. The glory in the college game isn't in the post, it's on the perimeter.
For that reason, the Parsons signing may have an effect on Patterson and Hickson. I have seen Patterson comment before about being a potential 3.
I do not think UF has a great shot at Patterson, but who knows. I think it is UK and Duke with Wake and UF behind them. They have a shot, just not a great one. I think UK has the best shot, but would not be suprised at all to see him go to Duke. All of this is just my own personal opinion/speculation.

I think the biggest effect of Parsons is that there's one less scholly to go around.
The article also mentions that Billy is going after Nash now. How many freaking 3's does he need?

I cited that I did understand they played different positions, but... not every coach plays strictly a 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 at all times. Thus my point about there only being so many minutes to divide up. I'm sure you've seen instances where a coach plays: 1, 2, 2, 3, 4 or a 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, right?
So, I think you're wrong about all the recruits that Billy is bring in not affecting future recruits. Basketball minutes isa zero sum game. You can't give someone minutes without taking them away from someone else.
