I think it's very important that any time we recruit in Florida that we get somebody out of there. The only way to successfully recruit in Florida is start getting two or three recruits a year from that state. Eventually, high schools will start noticing us down in Florida and players will start putting yes on their list.

That's a good idea. Since John L. Smith's days, U of L has used the strategy of getting 2nd-tier players from Florida that have flown under the radar of schools like Miami, FSU, and UF, and they've had a lot of success with it.

It was only a few years back (Mumme time) that we were getting Florida players regularly. There certainly are more than enough good ones there for the Florida biggees and Georgia to take what they want with plenty left over. Don't know why or how we lost that Florida touch. But we've used a similar approach the last couple of years (Joker) in S.C. and Ga.
Still, we're not totally out of Florida. We do have two Florida frosh on our team . Of the 4 Floridians on the roster, M Aitcheson is the one getting playing time.

It's due to changing staffs. Different folks have different contacts. One of the main reasons I'm glad our staff is returning. I like the direction recruiting is going and hopefully our contact areascan be expanded given time.
