If it were me, my first offensive play would be a flea-flicker deep pass. I mean, would anybody be surprised to see UK do an up-the-middle run to start the game? Of course not. I think that would be the single greatest "gotcha" play I may have possibly ever seen. I also think if it was successful it could easily deflate the entire UofL sideline and fanbase.

On defense, I'd like to see a little bit of a blitz. Not anything overly aggressive, not bringing the house or anything like that. Just send a man or two, at most, and try and make something happen. I think this would be great especially if we get the ball first and manage to score.

So, what would you all do on Saturday?

Also, if you've got it 4th and short, do you fake the punt on the first drive? What about if we're trying a FG, do we fake that if it's 4th and short?

Maybe I'm super aggressive with play calling, but I think it would be a pretty good gamble.

Again, also, I'm a pretty big Saints fan (even before they won the Super Bowl, so it's not like I'm a band-wagon fan) and I loved that onside kick to start their Super Bowl 2nd half. Do you think we could get them looking if we tried that to start the game? I mean, a new look team, with a new coach, in a new stadium , I think they could easily be caught extremely off guard and under-prepared for an onside kick that early.

I think if Joker can prove that he won't be as extremely conservative as everybody in the state thinks, we could throw UofL and Strong so far off guard that they wouldn't know what to do. It'd almost be like the first time the Miami Dolphins used their Wildcat package. Nobody knew what it was, nobody knew how to defend it.

Bottom line, I don't think we can be afraid of making mistakes in this game, at least on offense. I'm not saying it's okay to make those mistakes, and that they wouldn't ultimately cost us. But, you just can't play scared like that. The glistening record aside, I also got it done in the big games. Some of my key picks from a year ago included Florida over LSU, Arkansas over Auburn, South Carolina over Clemson, Ole Miss over LSU, Georgia over Auburn, Tennessee over Georgia and Georgia over South Carolina.

And, oh yeah, I nailed Alabama over Florida in the SEC championship game and Alabama over Texas in the BCS National Championship Game.

But like coach Nick Saban says, there’s not a single thing I did last year that can help me this year. Every season stands on its own, and I have to prove myself all over again.

Unlike Coach Saban, though, I’m going to be more results-oriented than process-oriented.

Why?

I like bragging too much when I get on a roll.

Kentucky 28, Louisville 24: It’s billed as the Governor’s Cup, and Kentucky has won the last three. The Wildcats already seem to be winning most of the recruiting battles in the state under Joker Phillips. Winning this game should only help matters.

“I like the energy and the enthusiasm but from here on out it is all mental,” Phillips said. “Physically we have done all we can do, now it has to be a mental preparation. Tomorrow’s practice will be a lot of mental reps, getting guys on and off the field, making sure we are in transition in our special teams.”

Phillips talked about not only preparing the team mentally but also the freshmen that should expect to see playing time in their first collegiate game. The first-year head coach has talked extensively this fall about the maturity of the freshman class, including tailback Raymond Sanders whom he termed one of the most mature freshmen he has coached.

“Prepare them mentally so that they are relaxed and know their assignments,” Phillips said. “We think that we have some pretty mature guys. Raymond Sanders is one of the most mature guys that we have ever had as a freshman … We have got some ‘old’ freshmen and they are old enough to understand that.”

Behind the support of 2,178 electrifying members of the Big Blue Nation the 16th-ranked Kentucky volleyball team earned a dramatic 3-2 come-from-behind win (14-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-27, 15-10) over intrastate rival Louisville on Wednesday night at Memorial Coliseum. The victory snapped a nine-match winning streak by the Cardinals in the series with UK's last win coming in the 1999 season.

"The atmosphere was amazing tonight," UK coach Craig Skinner said. "I think whoever watches us play better not leave their seat because they are going to miss something. Something exciting is going to happen when we play."

Kentucky trailed twice in the match and clawed its way back to a victory - it's first of the season to improve to 1-2 on the season. The most remarkable climb was in the decisive fifth set when UK trailed 6-1 in the early portion of the frame. Three consecutive errors by the Cardinals and a kill from senior Lauren Rapp brought the score to within 6-5. UK knotted the score at eight apiece behind another Cardinal miscue. On the following play, junior Becky Pavan's powerful jump-serve caught the Louisville defense off guard for an ace. The momentum swung into the Wildcats' favor and UK never looked back. Senior Blaire Hiler finished the run for the Wildcats with three kills in the final five points of the stanza to bring the crowd to its feet for a final time with a 15-10 win.

"I love coaching this team because they compete," Skinner said. "They never give up and they are not afraid to make mistakes. You have to have that type of mentality to beat good teams and win five-game matches."

UK's senior duo of Rapp and Hiler delivered in a big way down the stretch for the Wildcats. Rapp led the offensive output with a season-high 15 kills while adding four blocks and eight digs. Hiler charted 10 hammers to reach double-figures for the second consecutive match. She chipped in a block and five scoops. Freshman Whitney Billings continues to impress as she was the third member of UK's team to notch double-figure scoring with 11 kills and a pair of solo blocks. The freshman registered her first career double-double when she added 13 digs to her stat line.

Sophomore setter Christine Hartmann also set a career best in the digs column with 11 scoops to go along with 36 assists and a double-double effort as well. The difference maker was freshman Alexandra Morgan who made her first career start in her first collegiate appearance. UK's middle blocker struck for eight blocks to ignite UK's defensive effort. Stephanie Klefot anchored the back-line with a match-high 14 digs.

Kentucky's defensive prowess was the difference-maker as UK charted a combined 15 blocks and 64 digs. UK limited Louisville's offense to just a .080 hitting clip and 39 assists.

Nick Turner, a Parade All-American running back at Washington High who went on to play at Mississippi State, has been missing since Saturday night and is feared dead.
His mother, Jennifer Dix, told Fox 5 she got a call at 9 p.m. Saturday from someone saying Turner had been shot to death on Murphy Avenue in southwest Atlanta. Detectives found shell casings and an assault rifle in the 1300 block of Murphy Avenue, but no body, Officer Otis Redmond, a police spokesman, told the AJC Wednesday.

"Currently, we are investigating this incident as a missing person and not a homicide," Redmond said.
Turner, 26, made the AJC Super 11 in 2001 and led Mississippi State in rushing in 2003. He played in the same backfield as current Atlanta Falcon Jerious Norwood. But then-coach Sylvester Croom dismissed Turner for off-field incidents, including being charged with passing counterfeit bills at a Starkville nightclub.
Turner finished his career at Murray State.

He has to be one of the most underrated players out there.
