Sort of looks like Louisville's infrared NCAA tournament uniforms, right?

Lexington's Triangle Park fountain -- located conveniently next to Kentucky's Rupp Arena -- flowed with water dyed blood-red Wednesday afternoon.

When this photo was first posted to Twitter by Rivals.com's Brett Dawson, some Kentucky fans worried that Louisville fans had pulled quite the prank on them. And some Cards' fans wished it were true.

Apparently, the color has nothing to do with the Cards. Or the Cats. (But the contrast between red and Rupp still created quite a scene, regardless of its meaning.)

According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, the water was supposed to be temporarily dyed pink to promote the Downtown Lexington Corporation's new Fountain Films on Friday series that will feature the "Pretty in Pink" movie in the park.

When the sun vanishes behind the moon for the first time over the United States in this century, what better place to enjoy the view than from one of the 154 national parks that stand in its path?

Astronomy lovers in the United States will be treated to a partial disappearance of the sun behind the moon this Sunday (May 20). Only the Eastern Seaboard will be totally exempt. The eclipse will occur in the late afternoon or early evening of May 20 throughout North America, and May 21 for observers in Asia.

Over the course of the solar eclipse, the sun won't vanish completely, but will remain as a ring around the moon for what is known as an annular eclipse. When the eclipse occurs, the moon will be near its most distant point from Earth, making it appear smaller in the sky and thus unable to block the entire sun. But it will still be a stunning sight.

Thirty-three national parks will see the full effect of the moon's interference. Many western parks will be offering an array of events for their guests, ranging from placing telescopes out for viewing up to a full-scale astronomy festival.

"We're lucky that so many parks happen to lie within the path of the annular eclipse," Grand Canyon park ranger Marker Marshall told OurAmazingPlanet.

Lexington police arrested a former UK basketball player on sex charges early Tuesday morning.


According to court documents, Michael James Porter, 25, had sexual contact with a 14-year-old and 15-year-old on several occasions. The police reports indicate Porter met the minors when he was serving as a group leader at a church function.


Police charged porter with six counts of sodomy and two counts of sexual abuse, according to the Fayette County Detention Center website.


Porter played point guard at UK three seasons from 2006-2009. His junior year, he played in 36 games, averaging 4.1 points and 2.5 assists per game. He left after his junior season, saying he needed to spend more time with his wife and baby.
