We'll regret not going after this Kid......

Today Sheldon Mack signed his LOI to Butler... We will regret not getting in on this kid back in the summer, when he wanted us to....

Not to be a jerk, but Sheldon Mack doesn't exist. Well, he may exist but he didn't sign with Butler today, Shelvin Mack did.

I think we got two pretty good point guards.

Assuming Liggins qualifies, I doubt we'll regret anything at that position.

I think you are probably right... I also think that's the reason we have a point guard leaving the Lodge...

Rare is the time UK "loses" a player to Butler and regrets it. We probably regretted Lofton. We'll definitely regret Hopson at some point. I know we've regretted some of our own down at Vandy over the years.

But I don't think Butler is the kind of program you can say those things about.

If Mack turns into Stephon Curry in the next two years and leads Butler to the Elite Eight, then we can revisit this whole regret-thing. Maybe.

  8. Didn't Butler get in on him three years ago?
Joanne Herring: Why is Congress saying one thing and doing another?
    Charlie Wilson: Well, tradition mostly

  9. From what I have heard from "ears" in the Bryan Station program, Butler has recruited him from day one and Tubby did not show any interest in him. When BCG came in and showed interest in Shelvin, the young man stayed true to his word to Butler. I think that Mack is the most talented player in the state. But, I don't think that it is BCG's fault that UK didn't get him. Yes, the kid resented UK for not recruiting him, but that blame can be layed squarely on the shoulders of the previous coaching staff.

  10. Why the hand wringing and dire predictions. Foolish waste of worry time.

Can't have everybody. Coach the ones you get, and beat the ones you don't.

  11. I don't get this line of thinking really. We have Liggins and a slew of guards. Shelvin is not a PG which is what many think may be our biggest need in the backcourt. Maybe Mack came on strong a little too late? If you remember, BCG goes after kids very early in their careers and 2nd of all, we needed the best players that were available to us right away and Liggins committed early in BCG's 1st year here.

I have 100% belief that Liggins will be here in the fall. Findley prep has a 100% success rate in helping their kids qualify for college.

I like your attitude toward recruiting. I think BCG uses the same philosophy because he seems to have contacted every kid that can dribble a basketball this year.

This sounds really good to me. All we keep hearing is that he may not qualify. But 100% is 100%, so I will quit wondering.
Everything is better in the Bluegrass!
