Thread: Got a Bad Feeling About This One

  1. Got a Bad Feeling About This One

Vandy's running smooth and we're as out-of-synch as my Dad's Rambler.

Against South Carolina we were impatient, spoiled children who (with the exception of our biggest kid) reacted petulantly to a difficult situation. I guess national acclaim and a call from the President will do that to a team.

Forced shots, wishful passes, trying to make the 5-point play - rather than buckling down and doing what has made this talented collection of individuals a great team (can I get a REBOUND?).

I think we're too young to rebound this quickly from the bubble bursting and realize that it was our lack of maturity rather than an opponent's other-worldly performance (Downey was 9 of 29 - if you'd told me that before the game I'd say we won by twenty) that cost us the game, the ranking and a #1 seed if we're not careful.

I'll never bet against the Cats, but the smart money's on Vandy today.

I disagree. Its not smart to go against this young team. It seems many people remember that bad game on Tuesday night but also forget that very impressive butt whipping Kentucky handed Arkansas.

Kentucky will win this game and look impressive doing so. Vandy is a very good team and if Kentucky plays anything like Tuesday, they will lose today. But Kentucky will not be denied at Rupp Today. Calipari will have these boys ready today.

I think we win because we have a gigantic mismatch at the point guard position.

John Wall plays angry today and Vandy suffers for the sins of Devan Downey.

Cats are an 8.5 point favorite

We haven't had to rebound from a loss yet this year but we have rebounded from less than stellar performances....and quite well. Don't know how well your old man's Rambler runs but I doubt we're that out-of-synch.

I kind of have the opposite feeling about this one. I feel bad for Vandy. we get to come home and defend it with a rocking Rupp crowd and an opponent we match up pretty well with. Time to take out some frustrations and start a new win streak.

This is the reason I'm feeling pretty good about this one.

Of course, Rupp crowds can be hit or miss. Sometimes...there is a laid back, "entertain me" attitude. For the truly "big" games....like North Carolina....the crowds are loud and crazy throughout the game. But against teams where UK should win the game easily....they can be a bit subdued.

I think coming off a loss, in a meaningful game against an SEC opponent - one we haven't had much success against lately....the crowd should be pumped and into the game. That should serve our guys well today.....

  6. I agree with Joe and Will.

Melvin, I understand why you might feel that way. We Kentucky fans feel things deeply, "in our bones" which feels like reality. I'm a good example of that. I felt certain that John Wall would blow out Downey in his first opportunity to take him on head to head, and have a gigantic game against USC. And while I still believe John has a MONSTER game forthcoming soon, it certainly wasn't the right day for that prediction.

There have been good points made here as to why we will be a different team today against Vandy. Maybe what the real feeling is could be a change of tide in this team and an overwhelming exclamation point at the end of the game that leaves no doubt Kentucky is the best.

Maybe my prophecy comes true today and John Wall goes off for real. And maybe too, your clairvoyant skills are better honed and I'm wrong, once again.

One thing is for sure, I can hardly wait for the game to get going!
It will be so fine, to get number NINE!

Careful with that. Reading that made me shudder.

I am telling you guys, this is a very good, deep, talented, athletic and well coached Vandy team.

Jermaine Beal is not tremendously overmatched by anyone. The kid is as toughas they come and this bunch will not be intimidated. They expect to win.

That said, I disagree with I.Melvin. These young freshmen we have now expect to win as well. They are not used to losing and don't like it one bit so I expect them to come out and play with a lot of pride today. Combine that with the fact that we are a big game team (glad to see Cal finally realizing this) and I think it will be a good day for our Cats today.

My prediction is we win a great, tough game today with both teams looking good, because they are good.

  8. I think PP will try to shut up some FB posters with an outstanding effort.

Maybe. But Patrick needs to focus on the game. NOT FB remarks. I know what you're saying justford, just hope he is playing for the team and not responding to worthless FB posts.:widcat:

I don't think we'll destroy them like we did Arkansas...no way. and if this game was in Nashville, I'd be a little worried myself. And hell....I don't really ever feel "bad" for the opposition anyway.

I think today we'll see a very hungry and focused bunch, who has fed well off the Rupp atmosphere this year.

  18. I think after the loss this week that the Cats will come out with a vengence and on fire and might even kick Vandy back to TN!

Yes, Joe Hardy....well stated. If this game were being played in Nashville, I would be cautious. I too believe that we will be focused on correcting what went painfully wrong in Columbia. I would be happy with say.....a 10 point win against Vandy.

  20. I was walking around outside earlier and the sky fell on me. It freakin' hurt, too.

    What's up with that!?!?!?!?!!?
