New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton suspended for entire 2012 season by NFL

NEW YORK — The NFL has
suspended New Orleans head coach Sean Payton for the 2012 season, and former
Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is banned from the league
indefinitely because of the team’s bounty program that targeted opposing
players.

Commissioner Roger Goodell will review Williams’ status
after the upcoming season and consider whether he can return to the league.

Also Wednesday, Goodell suspended Saints general
manager Mickey Loomis for the first eight regular-season games of 2012, and
assistant coach Joe Vitt has to sit out the first six games. In addition, the
Saints are being fined $500,000 and forfeit second-round draft picks this year
and in 2013.

Wow! Most thought they would just have a fine and forfeit some picks. But really it's probably the right punsihment. Even though this has gone on in the NFL since the league was formed you can't have it going on. The league has to put a stop to it.

For now they are the example. Unless someone else's come out in the open. I haven't heard abut anyone else? Maybe you or someone else has? I don't doubt if a lot of teams had this bounty system going on. I've heard older NFL guys talk about it long after they were out of the league about going after the QB to get their "bonus" money.

I don't know of any currently - but there's been news of such practices on various teams in the past.

I didn't know if the NFL investigation yielded evidence of any other teams or if New Orleans was the only one.

Williams had it when he was DC with the Redskins. Wasn't he DC with another team this past season? If he was, guaranteed they had it.
