What is the physiology involved in eating hot food?
We have so many pepper fans here, this seems like a good place to ask.
I read an article that siad that the reason your reaction to eating hot food is to eat more hot food is that your body releases endorphins on the first blast, and eating more releases more. So that got me wondering. Are they saying that the effect is cumulative, thus the increased endorphins?
In other words, if the first bite causes discomfort at the X level, does that mean another (or bigger) bite bumps it to 2X ?? Based only on my personal experiences, I don't think so, but I definitely do fall into that category of craving more hot stuff once I start eating any of it. In fact, I don't really feel the worst pain until I stop eating.
What about all you other pepper junkies? If I can't be a good example, perhaps I can be a horrible warning
