Just found out that his might be for college game day football, would be awesome for UK to win still though! ESPN will probably not like it!

OK. That would make more sense. No way they would be that far behind in basketball. I voted.

After the Vanderbilt BS, I vote we tell ESPN to take a hike.
"Conservatism, I fear (so to speak), can never be cleansed of this need to instill fear. Whether it’s of black people or of street thugs or of immigrants or of terrorists or of jackbooted government agents, it’s how the conservative mind works. I don’t even think it’s always cynical and manipulative; conservatives often do see enemies under every bed. But that doesn’t mean they’re there, and it most definitely doesn’t mean the rest of us ought to make law and policy based on their nightmares."

  7. After Digger showed his anus and ESPN condoned it I will not vote for them to get a rating boost off of the University of Kentucky.

So...I checked this afternoon, and NC St. had 30,000. Within 6 hours, they're now at 650,000?!?! Something's fishy...

Edit: Another 2 hours later, they have 50,000 more for a total of 700,000. Not sure if this is a joke, but some are suggesting they have 'bots' that are voting for NC St. and A&M. I honestly don't know how it's possible for them to get 50,000 votes at 2 in the morning without cheating somehow.

Thats what I have been hearing too. But, it would be so great if BBN defeated them somehow.

just checked the website, and now it says they are "checking the integrity" with the votes.

I saw that too...sounds fishy to me too..most polls only allow you to vote only 1 time

I wonder if they can tell which votes were legitimate? If not, they should just disqualify all those that were cheating.

They do, but that limit really only works if the system requires you to log in to vote and they somehow limit people to having only one account (not really that enforceable...you just need a different email address to set up a 2nd account under most systems).

If they don't require a login at all but depend on cookies to determine that you've already voted, you only need to clear you cookies to vote again.

They couldn't really block by IP address. Large institutions use proxy servers and all accesses from within their networks will always appear to come from the same IP address....even if there are thousands of individual users.

For many of the poll/vote systems, it is pretty easy to write a script in less than 15 minutes to vote, accept the necessary cookie, clear the cookie and vote again, several times per minute.....repeatedly until I killed it. I have done so before when I was curious if it could be done....and it worked.

The typical way to defeat a computerized auto-voter is to use a captcha system (those distorted sets of numbers and letters that you have to type in before you can submit). With those, a script can't work without human input for each vote. But, those are generally considered annoying for things that are not critical or sensitive.

Don't get so down, though, guys just because it's football! The polls are back up! It would still be cool to have a commercial filmed on campus that would play all football season long! Who knows, maybe it would boost interest in the program among potential recruits! Stay positive!

Okay, can't bot that stuff at all. You'd need multiple facebook accounts and do the captchas. Much better job. You can vote daily though.

I wouldn't be holding my breath on this, considering they usually have Gameday at a site/stadium where a marquee game is taking place?
