Nice. Looks like 3rd in scoring average, tied for team best blocks (not even per game but just total number of blocks), team best shooting percentage, all while second to last in minutes per game. It's starting to look really weird that Coach K isn't giving him more opportunities, especially in these exhibition games that are designed for just that.
At first I understood why Davis wasnt getting many minutes, he hadnt had the experience and who in the right mind would play him over some of these NBA all stars. But now, the way hes played he has deserved some more playing time, and I might be wrong but I cant see anyone on that team would argue about it. They seem to enjoy having him on the team even though he hasnt "proved himself" yet in the NBA.

Yeah man, it's brutal to look at Chandler getting all 4 starts, but 2.5 ppg, the same 4 blocks in almost 3 times the minutes... if you don't want to start the rook that's pretty reasonable, but I think he's earned the right to eat up a few of Chandler's minutes at least. Or Kevin Love's or somebody. Only thing those two can say is they get rebounds slightly more often, but who wants to throw away 2 blocks per game and 6-8 ppg to pick up the 1 extra rebound per game? I'm with you, I don't think whoever K would choose to sit would even complain.
I guess you could say well AD is getting it done in garbage time against bad teams, but hell put him in against Argentina or somebody and see! You really think you can't afford to give him 5 minutes against a good team just to see what he's made of? In exhibition where winning or losing means nothing? Sorry K, not buying it.

Davis may not get any garbage time today. The USA plays Spain at 4:30 pm today and will be televised by ESPN2, IIRC. Spain is considered the USA's biggest threat to a gold medal. It's only an exhibition game but may prove to be interesting as the game is on Spain's home court in Barcelona.

He should still be getting minutes even if you believe all he is is a garbage time star. Other guys get garbage time and are not putting up anywhere close to his numbers, so even as just a garbage time star he's probably in the top 60% of the talent on this roster. Also, it's still exhibition, it doesn't matter if you win or lose, you need to be finding out what your team can and can't do. You know AD can be phenomenal in garbage time, you don't know if he can or can't add anything in a tight contest (and I'm saying that because K believes it, not because I do, I've seen how clutch every aspect of AD's game is). Find out now, not during the Olympics. I would seriously have him in the whole second quarter against Spain. Either he shows he can hang or he gets some needed experience, that extra exhibition W isn't going to help you in a medal game but extra AD minutes might.
Edit: And you're still going to have four Lebrons and Kobes on the floor pouring in buckets even with AD out there, so it's really not a safe bet that a sub-par AD performance for one quarter would cost you the Spain exhibition anyway. I don't know, man, I just don't see how it makes any sense at all to not be playing AD right now. He's doing better than most of the team and you need to see what else he's got up his sleeve before the games start counting.

Listen man, I know you love Griffin and don't like Davis, you've made that clear. But get past that and look at the situation. If you have Guy X and you only give him a handful of garbage minutes, and he ends up putting up some of the best stats on your team anyway, why would you not plug him in and see what he's really made of in some of these games that you don't need to win? Davis not getting minutes is ego, pure and simple. There is no gain and all loss from keeping him on the bench right now, it's all about Coach K's precious olympic exhibition record. If you think I'm so dumb and Coach K is so brilliant, give me one legitimate strategic reason why a guy like that should have 20 minutes after four games in exhibition. And you know he won't get to play Spain either so we might as well go ahead and call it 20 minutes in 5 games. Give me one strategic reason for that, how does that get us closer to a gold medal.
Anthony Davis plays 3 minutes and has 1 block..

For those who want to know, there is some rumbling and grumbling going on about Kevin Love and his contributions thus far. If Love doesn't improve, expect Andre Iguadola to pick up some extra minutes but don't be surprised if Anthony Davis isn't on the floor more. In my personal opinion, Coach K could give up some of Tyson Chandlers mintutes to Anthony Davis as well. Let's be honest, T. Chandler is overrated and it's a shame that in the absence of Dwight Howard that Chandler was added to this team. There are other big men in the league who could contribute and bring much more to the table than Tyson Chandler. Regardless, glad to see A Davis doing his thing with Team Usa.....................

Once again you place your complete goofiness on display. I have never said I loved Griffin, nor said I don't like Davis. You keep coming up with these relationships in your head and then jump off the bridge with them. My opinion is that Griffin's stats for his first two years in the league, and his athleticism and size, made him a legitimate choice for team USA. Davis is there, with the NBA paying homage to the NCAA, but without a string of injuries, he probably isn't a legit choice for this years team. You have your Big Blue Blinders on. You keep harping on Davis' athleticism, and ignore the probable reasons other's got picked in front of him(besides experience, performance and peer recognition of their abilities), hands and meat, hands and meat. And actually the way it looks, after the first 6-8 guys on the olympic squade, most everybody else looks like filler anyway...those first eight ARE that good. In the future the Olympic committee is talking about going back to 23 or under for Olympians, and then watchout, there will be some KY starters in no time.
This season though, I'd be tickled pink for Davis, just to get some crucial minutes against one of the better Olympic squads... but it's tempered by realism that he may not get much of a shot like that. In 4 years though, he will still be in that 23 and under zone.

Yeah I think that's absolutely right, man. Davis should be getting at least some of Chandler's and Love's minutes but probably won't get either.
Dude I'm not one to cave just because someone wants to pretend I'm a homer, reality is reality and sometimes you just have to accept reality is often in favor of Kentucky. Kentucky's done a lot of awesome stuff and Davis is one of the best ever to come through Lexington. And he's playing well enough that there's a good argument to be made that he's one of the best period. That's real life dude, if you disagree you are wearing hater blinders, or trying so hard to avoid being called a homer that you might as well be wearing hater blinders. My opinion is that Griffin's stats for his first two years in the league, and his athleticism and size, made him a legitimate choice for team USA. It's funny to me that you think everyone after 6 or 8 is some scrub filler pick, but you think Blake is a legit pick. You know Blake was in the scrub filler group, right? Also we have been through Blake's stats man I don't know why you still want that to be your argument. Blake dunks and does jack, AD is near the top of the Olympic team in multiple statistical categories with the least minutes of anyone. I am not talking about Davis's athleticism or his NCAA greatness, I am talking about AD's actual stats in international competition. Any fool can look at them and tell he should be getting a shot, especially in these throw-away exhibition games.

Oh my God dude, you are so blinded by hatred for Anthony Davis that you're going to sit here and act like G.B. isn't one of the top 12 teams in the world. They earned an Olympic spot, man. And Davis got basically no time against them and still balled all over them like a living nightmare in every aspect of his game and on both sides of the court. Sure maybe England isn't Spain but your argument is getting absurd.
A.D. has been either one of the best performers or THE best performer on the team in multiple categories, even though he has gotten far fewer minutes than anyone else. Confirm or deny. I don't care if you want to look down your nose at one of the top 12 teams in human civilization, I care about whether or not you think A.D. has earned the right for a real shot in a bigger game, and if not why not. Don't insult me, don't insult England or whoever, I am not interested in that nonsense, I am interested in do you think A.D. has earned a shot or not, and why not since it seems safe to assume you think not? We blew Spain out, what did we stand to lose by letting A.D. have one lousy quarter? How does keeping A.D. leashed during exhibition improve our medal chances? You act like some kind of basketball general so tell me what K is gaining us with this, I'm a lowly peon begging for your enlightenment.
