I could not agree more. That's one important position out of the way with 2 solid options should one of them falter or get re-injured. What will Jocketty do now with LF, SS and the high priced magnificent 7 on the roster?

Fay's take minus the addition difficulties.

Here's my logic on that:

Let's say the payroll is going to be $65 million, down from $73.5 million last year. The Reds already have $59.25 million committed to six players for 2010: Aaron Harang ($12.5 million), Francisco Cordero ($12 million), Scott Rolen ($11 million), Bronson Arroyo ($11 million), Brandon Phillips ($6.75 million), Willy Taveras ($4 million) and Arthur Rhodes ($2 million).
Logic you say??

Thom Brennaman will replace George Grande in the booth for Reds TV this coming season. Jim Kelch will take Thom's place on the radio side. Not really a surprise. Thom is better, IMO, when he's away from his dad. Thom said he will do about ten radio games with his dad too.

I also very much hope Barry Larkin makes into the Hall on his first ballot. He was my favorite player for the longest time, growing up. I love that guy.

The biggest Redsfest news for me this week is Jocketty again mentioning the payroll will be the same as last year and there is no need to dump more salary. Maybe someone is buying season tickets after all.

The news about Thom....

Wow. Reds let Gomes go. (I doubt he comes back. Someone will pay him, I would think.)

This actually surprised me. And here I thought they might at least spend SOMEthing this Winter...

Typical Reds penny pinching move. From what I have read if they went to arbitration with Gomes it probably would have only cost them $3 million a year. If the Reds can't afford that then they just need to fold the franchise. They look to be banking on Heisey or Francisco being the left fielder.

I suspected this until Jocketty mentioned the payroll being the same. He basically threw me a breaking pitch in the dirt and I swung at it.

He seems to be pretty good at that. I am having trouble believing anything he says anymore...
