Liggins in the doghouse?

Folks, anyone have any idea why Liggins didn't hit the floor? Campbellsville cleared their bench, UK cleared theirs other than DeAndre. Doghouse, injury, academics?? Would appreciate any info. Just curious.

Must be something. And this disappoints me, because I felt of all the players from last year that had the chance to flourish most in the Calipari system it was Liggins.

We should know more later today or on Wednesday. Maybe he was sick? I hope its not a repeat performance.

He was at the very end of the bench tonight. Even Wall was closer to Coach than DeAndre was tonight. Not sure what the issue is but I hope that it's not something big.

I share your hopes as well. I was really hoping to see good things from Liggins this year and I had it in my head with Wall being out he would get a little extra PT. Folks, DeAndre was a top 50 recruit from several sites. Let's hope there's something clear out there tomorrow. If he's having trouble with Coach Cal and then his past with that other coach it won't look good for him.

I know he had a bunch of fouls in the Blue White Game, but he really looked more comfortable than he had before. Joe B. had raved about him, Coach Cal had hyped him some(his defensive stopper). Has to be something clear cut as to why he didn't play.

Don't wish him to be sick however, in this situation I'd like to hear maybe that he was sick instead of something to do with stuborness or somethign distracting to the team.

Did you notice how tore up JW was, having to watch - watch out Friday!

Coach was asked about Liggins after the game. Sort of deflected the question and moved on quickly. I suspect Liggins broke a rule and Cal wanted to keep it "in house."

Actually, Cal asked Liggins to enter the game in the second half but he refused.

Ha, Ha, bad joke. I know.

To assume or speculate that Liggins did something bad or broke a rule is a little ridiculous to me. Can't he actually be a good kid and just not get called to play? Even with Wall out he was the 11th guy last night and the 3rd or 4th option at a guard position. It's just one exhibition game.

Beat me to it! I was about to post the same thing.
But seriously, I want DAL to flourish for the Cats. I hope last night was just a one-time bad deal, and that he's back in the mix.

Yeah, he can be a good kid and just not get called on to play. But, don't you think it's rather odd that we're winning by 30, an exhibition game, and everyone else plays? Just have to think there's a message being sent for some reason(hopefully not bad)!

Agreed! Strange that he did not play.

I would assume that it's an internal issue, as evidenced by Cal's reaction to the question in postgame last night. I wouldn't be too worried. Now, if something happens more than once, then

That's too good. If they count those fouls, we might get Liggins back by conference play.

Evidently there was an issue that happened in practice. Sounds like it probably wasn't too big a deal because he says he intends to do something similar Friday to see how some of the other players deal with adversity? Coach Cal appears to be pulling out all of the stops in trying to get inside the heads of these kids without demoralizing them. Kudos to Coach.

Pretty good take on the situation. I felt like last night was a motivating tool for Perry Stephenson by Coach Calipari. He sat, sat, and sat. Then when his number was called, we all seen the fire that Perry showed when he got a chance to get in the game.I still think that he and Liggins will be important pieces of the puzzle this year and that's why coach knows that he needs to get them on board now rather than later.......

I agree. They will/should play a major role as the season progresses.

I took it that he didn't perform well in practice, so he didn't get the opportunity. I think the same was true for Perry, but then after he came in and played very well (what about those drives to the basket????), Cal even mentioned that he should see some more time on Friday.

I was hoping to see how Liggins would do in this offense, but I guess if he isn't getting it done in practice, then how can you expect him to perform in the games?

So "in-house" it will remain. Also, exactly, when Coach Cal had been specifically asked if were a "disciplinary" move and he, indeed, "deflected the question," I think we can figure out that it had MOST likely been some type of disciplinary move.

By the way, I, too, had liked DeAndre's effort on defense during the scrimmage. Also, he had been doing a good job of dishing the ball to others. For the most part, I had not been disappointed in his play (although, yes, I fully realize that one must play defense WITHOUT fouling ).

In regard to Perry Stevenson, who knows! Oh, yes, I liked what I saw last night, and so did Coach Cal. Coach Cal is the third coach trying to push the right buttons to get Perry motivated. Let's just all hope that the third time is the charm.
